How about the Speed Wing? This was my first "high wind" kite...Simple and FAST! With only a single spreader, forming a simple triangle, this kite is nearly indestructible...though after years of abuse, it is not exactly in pristine shape anymore. But what makes this kite so great is the design. It has a thick reinforced piece of tube as the connector/nose of the leading edge spars, and being flexible, it absorbs impact without breaking....a triangle sail...and a single spreader...

The Tango by HQ is a very good light-wind kite. Rated 1-18mph, you need a bit more wind than 1mph without bridle adjustments. In winds above 10mph, the Tango generates more speed than pull, and is very quick and responsive. The frame is very light and sturdy with carbon construction, and though I've never crashed it (hard), I think it would withstand a fair bit of abuse from a beginner pilot. Tango (HQ Kites) - 1-18mph. This kite has a good range, flies well in very light wind, and as the wind picks up, the speed and responsiveness goes up with it. Comes ready-to-fly and is a nice kite for beginner-intermediate.

Prism Nexus stunt kite review

I got my first kite delivered yesterday, a Prism Nexus. Don't have anything to compare it with at the moment but as a beginner's kite it's great. I've written a short review on my stunt kite flying blog. Still have to upload some pictures though.

Will sent me a new Saber to try and i have now had a little time with it.
I humbly offer up a few first impressions.

My first flights though brief, were in a very nice light wind of about 4-7mph.
I had a light to moderate wind, 4-13mph with a steady 6mph at times to fly the Saber on my second outing.

My main objective today (Sunday, June 29, 2008) was to try out my newly added Transfer VV xt.r. The winds were toward the lower end of it's wind range (6-10 mph ...gusting to 12) at first but picked up as the afternoon went on. I just got first try out on WM UL Friday in winds from 5 to 7 to 1 to 5 mph. I have a few std. and UL's from the same maker and I got to tell ya this WMUL is really close to std. minus the weight of course.

I bought Chuck's WM Spider and love it! It can fly great in low wind and do the stuff I know how to do without a weight kit and upper spreader. I'm interested to find out how the UL compares to it.

Has anyone gotten the WM UL yet? GWTW had some preliminary comments but nothing to compare it to the standard. Is it possible to improve on the std?

What do you all think is the BEST UL on the market? In my limited experience, I like the AG XUL just because it handles the really low winds so sweetly... What do you all like? By UL, I am talking winds in the 1-4 range.
