I agree that September would provide the time for every one to plan for it and the weather would be great then, very likely to have temps in the 70's with good winds. After we hear from the majority of the folks that would like to come we will set a date but sometime in September 09 sound like a winner right now.

Those days would work for me. Lets hear from a few others on these days first, just to see who it works for and then we can set these days as the event date.

Huntsville International Airport is less than three miles from the field and just as close to all the hotels. So flying into it would be overall the best choice but there a two others you may want to check. Birmingham Airport is about 90 miles from the field but may be cheaper to fly to, I know it has always been cheaper to fly out of Birmingham than Huntsville. There is also an airport in Nashville, TN which is around an hour anf a half to two hours from the field. Then I guess the last option would be Atlanta but it is four to five hours from the field.

Barry, you found it. The great thing about this place is how close it is to everything. The Airport, hotels, eating establishments. The field is in the city of Madison not Huntsville. The only bad thing is you have to go to a gas station or fast food place to use the potty. Intergraph is a software company and all their buildings are secured and since none of us work there we can not get in to go potty.

There is a Sheriton hotel inside the Huntsville Airport but it cost big bucks. There is a brand new Baymont within a quater mile of the field and a Hampton Inn about a mile away, its nice, it was our host hotel when we had Tricks Party South two years ago.

As far as potri potties, I would have to check with the facilities manager. He let us put two in the parking lot for our Tricks Party event two years ago. No way they can go on the field and they don't need to. He was very cool about everything we wanted to do but said they had to be gone from the lot before work hours started on Monday. The company I got them from charged 75 dollars each and they came out at the end of the first day and cleaned them so they were fresh for the next day and they had them there on time and out of there on time. We have to honor anything Intrergraph wants because the FOS does not want to loose the privilege of flying here, that would be a very, very bad thing. VERY BAD.

How big? well I am not opposed to going public with this but I would want AKA sanctioning at this point. Intergraph did not make us have a liability statement signed for tricks party but we only had about 20 people. At our news year day fly we only had up the Octo, a couple of 252s and some Pyros and at one time we had around 35 spectators that saw the kites from a distance or by driving down the highway and "just had to find us". So with all that we could put in the sky with all of us there would probably draw a large crowd and I think having my backside covered would be a very good idea The I would have to advertise it some way and definitely get approval from Intergraph for a full blown festival. A fun fly with 20 or so, no big deal.

This field is large but if we had something like a couple of 450s, 252s, Octos or any other large inflatables we could run out of flying room for the duals and quads real quick and if joe public shows up and wants to fly we could really run into space issues. As I said I am not against turning this into a big time event, that would be cool, just have to work out the logistics. Also there would be rules to follow as far as the field itself goes that FOS already has imposed on our self's. Basically, leave the field the way we walked onto it. No trash left behind and such.

A name. If we go big time I would want something that has Huntsville/Madison in the title and we could bill it as sponsored by Nosedivers Stuntkite Forum. If we keep in among our self's then anything is fine. But , we will draw a crowd what ever we do, like I said on new years day we had a small display up and we drew a lot of people thought out the day, I would guess 50 to 60 over all.

That is all part of my concern with a full blown festival. When I talked to the Intergraph people for tricks party they were not interested in sponsoring anything and I'm not real sure they would want food vendors or the like on their property, but it never hurts to ask There is also a question as to whom actually owns this field. At one time I was told that Intergraph owned it. About two years ago I was told by a friend that works for Intergraph that the City of Madison owned it. If Madison owns it they might be real interested in a kite festival. Madison leadership likes to try and one up Huntsville from time to time, even if Madison owns it there may be issues with the fact that it is surrounded by Intergraph. Again questions that I will have to ask if we go big time.

These are decisions that can be made after we have a solid count of how many are going to come.
